Kitchen Crashers

This weekend we went down minus Meg and the baby and plus Bon Bon (as he is affectionately referred to by his nephew). Because of work, we didn’t leave until almost 9:00 Friday night. That made for a very late night (early morning, really). The agenda for the weekend had us laying hardwood flooring in the family room, eating area and kitchen. I was also going to grout the tile, caulk the sink and counters, fill all nail holes in the paneling, paint and seal the concrete. Interspersed with all this were 3 trips to Lowe’s, one to Home Depot and trips to HEB, The Bun N Barrel (see them on Food Network May 30!), and Sonic.

Here Is B working on the floor.

Here is an (almost) after picture taken from the far end of the family room, looking toward the eating area. The fridge will be put back into the kitchen when the wall is finished.

Don’t know if it’s a good thing, but my size means I get all the tight space jobs.

what’s done now

We got a lot done, yea(!), but not enough to keep us from going back again next weekend. We are also taking a load of furniture and stuff down. Not really moving in, just taking the stuff down that she has here. The Seattle house stuff doesn’t come until June.

Many of you have inquired about my renovation attire. My daughter calls it pre-pubescent chic. I call it comfy. Anyway, my Raider Pride outfit gives me comfort with a distinctive flair at an affordable price, and don’t forget durability! I leave it in San Antonio and I don’t plan on washing it until the job is complete. I’m hoping that by the end of the job, my clothing will be able to at least stand on it’s own, and maybe actually help with the work. The people at Lowe’s now know me, but pretend not to, by my never changing uniform.
